I am Charles Treviño, Director with the Upper San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District, representing all or parts of Rosemead, San Gabriel, South Pasadena, South San Gabriel and Temple City. I am a former appointed Director to the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California and former Board member of the Main San Gabriel Basin Water Master which administers water rights and manages groundwater resources in the San Gabriel Basin, serving 1.5 million residents and businesses.
My efforts brought 140,000 acre feet of water to the Basin, providing long term reliability and enough water to serve 425,000 homes for one year.
Due to the uncertainty of future imported water supplies we are also partnering with Metropolitan Water in a $3 billion Water Recycling project that will reduce our need for expensive imported water by 90%. It is also a major economic driver because of the 5,000 jobs that will be created.
I managed Upper District expenses carefully, resulting in no rate increases for over 15 years.
I have proven experience, accountability and results. I am grateful and honored to serve the residents of the San Gabriel Valley.
